The German American Business Association (GABA) has named Taulia, Inc., the financial supply chain company, as the winner of its 2016 Startup and Innovation Award. The award, which is presented to a highly accomplished startup with strong ties to Germany, recognizes the German roots of Taulia's founders and the San Francisco-based company's impressive global growth.

"Taulia is a true German-American success story. The team has leveraged their expertise and international business acumen to build a global market leader and boost economic growth," said Caroline Raynaud, executive director of the German American Business Association of California.

Taulia transforms the financial supply chain through modern technology to connect the largest companies in the world to their suppliers to do business more efficiently and effectively. Through a combination of sophisticated eInvoicing, supplier management and supplier financing, Taulia provides a win-win for buyers and all of their suppliers, strengthening relationships and adding significant savings to the bottom line.

The company was founded in 2009 by four Germans -- President Bertram Meyer, Chief Product Officer Markus Ament, former Chief Technology Officer Philip Stehlik, and General Manager of Germany Martin Quensel -- and has an office in Dusseldorf, Germany. Taulia counts several of the country's largest companies as customers, and in 2016 will provide thousands of German suppliers with access to cash when they need it most, at a much lower cost than alternative financing.

"Our company has such strong personal and professional ties to Germany that this really is a meaningful award for us," said Meyer, who accepted the award on behalf of Taulia. "GABA does a tremendous job providing networking opportunities and knowledge-sharing for entrepreneurs and professionals, and we are thrilled to be honored by this community."

GABA is a member-driven, non-profit organization dedicated to encouraging German-American business and trade. The GABA Startup and Innovation Award criteria includes market success, name recognition, external funding, substantial revenue and an innovative technology solution.

The award was announced at the GABA 2016 Gala, held in late January in San Francisco. Also honored at the event were Datameer, a big data analytics company, and Margit Wennmachers, a partner at Andreessen Horowitz.
